Positive Reviews

Location, location, location

The De Vere University Arms is superbly located for sightseeing and shopping purposes It’s a walking distance to the city centre It’s quite close to the colleges and Parker’s Piece The surroundings are elegant and tasteful The building overlooks the serene greenery which makes for a relaxing sight There’s an on-site car park.

The rooms aren’t a complete letdown

Though very dated, many rooms are well maintained and very clean e g the Emmanuel Room The spacious rooms feature nice, big comfortable beds complete with good pillows and clean linens Free Wi-Fi available Lovely piped classical music is played in the public rooms.

Good quality breakfast

The breakfast is well prepared and very hearty The dining room is lovely and has great views of the surrounding area.

Very amicable staff here

The team is cheerful and friendly.

Negative Reviews

Rooms and public areas are dated

Rooms are in need of painting Carpets are dirty and threadbare Bathrooms are small, rundown and dirty Non-functional air conditioning results in hot stuffy rooms and while opening the windows helps you have to contend with the loud noise outside Room furniture, floors, décor, layout and design are outdated The entrance has a 1960s feel Interiors are gloomy and old-fashioned Part of the De Vere University Arms building exterior is an eyesore The elevators are old Fortunately the hotel has closed down for renovations.

Incompetent staff

Though hospitable these guys seem to be poorly trained, clueless and ineffective The service at breakfast is below par.

Noisy neighbours

The nearby bars and clubs are too noisy to allow for a decent night’s sleep.

Expensive car park

The car parking fee per night is on the higher side.
