The Sacred Valley Home is the culmination of a long-held dream of the father of the Giri family, Nabin. Nabin has been working in the tourist, hospitality and hotel industry since 1987. He began as a trekking guide along the Annapurna and Everest trekking circuit, then as an assistant manager, and finally as the manager of al hotel in Thamel. All the time while he and his wife were raising a young family of five children. It was in 2015 when the dream of owning his own boutique hotel came to fruition – Nabin sold a family property and invested in the Sacred Valley Home. With the encouragement and assistance of two international friends and businessmen, Nabin is now a proud owner and operator of the business, and in charge of their collective destiny. Together, with the help of his four beautiful daughters, Indu, Bindu, Karuna and Saruna, his son, Aasis, and his wife, Laxmi, they bring the true hospitality of Kathmandu alive. This endeavor has been a labor of love, and a lot of hard work, for the Giri family. When they first began, the hotel property was in a poor and dilapidated condition: water pipes bursting on a semi-regular basis, faulty lighting and electrical systems, peeling paint, leaking windows, broken tiles, etc. It was only through raw determination, perseverance and rolling up their sleeves that they have been able to bring the old property back to life. Ideally located in a quiet street in the heart of Thamel, you will now find the hotel is beautifully adorned with traditional Nepalese art, antique woodwork in the lobby and garden area, fresh paint, repaired windows, doors, plumbing, electrical and lighting systems, etc. They have improved the bathroom facilities with modern fixtures, provide clean towels and linens, installed air conditioning / heating units, high-speed wifi and flat-screen televisions, updated their bedding and furniture, and decorated each of their 24 rooms in the spirit of Nepal. There is also a full-service rooftop restaurant, offering unique views of the city. Enjoy everything from homemade banana pancakes for breakfast to traditional Nepalese cuisine for dinner. However, more important to your stay than the physical improvements is the genuine caring and hospitality of the Giri family, as well as the entire staff. As William Shakespeare once said, “What is the city, but the people?” This is never truer than in Kathmandu. The Giri family will provide you with some of your most cherished memories of Nepal. Their friendly, helpful, talkative (though sometimes shy) demeanor is sincere and endearing. Ask them for anything and they will do everything in their power to make it happen. They are here to make your stay in Kathmandu a beautiful and memorable experience. You will arrive as a guest and leave as family. The Sacred Valley Home is a warm, clean and inviting place to stay, offering sanctuary and peace from the busy streets of Kathmandu. The entire Giri family welcomes you. Their home is yours. “Where the Hospitality of Kathmandu Lives”
