Downtown Disney is a large area within Walt Disney World which is dedicated to shopping, dining and entertainment away from the thrill of the theme parks. Downtown Disney contains no rides or rollercoasters. It is set along the shores of the lake overlooking the resort hotel, Disney’s Saratoga Springs. Downtown Disney is divided into two sections; Marketplace and Westside. Marketplace features a range of character shops which carry all manner of Disney merchandise and memorabilia, specialty stores and barrows managed by sketch artists and cartoonists. Restaurants range from fast food outlets and ice cream parlours to full service diners. The Marketplace is anchored at one end by the Rain Forest Cafe; at the other by Fulton’s Crab House - an old Mississippi river boat. Most of the shops open all days in the morning and close at 11:30 p.m. West End is Disney’s Club Land and comes alive at night. Here you will find a variety of show, comedy and cabaret houses. Cirque de Soleil has a permanent pavillion on the lakeside giving twice nightly performances of “La Nouba”. There is also a 24 screen AMC cinema. Downtown Disney contains several car parking places.
Disney Springs is a top attraction in Lake Buena Vista, known for its unique features that attract numerous visitors each year.
