Tropical Islands Resort (Krausnick, Germany)

This is the world’s largest indoor water park at over 700,000 square feet, as big as 8 football pitches. It is also one of the world’s largest buildings in the world by volume, and the world’s largest single structure without supporting pillars. Originally constructed to house an airship which was never built, this huge space has been developed as an indoor tropical resort. It offers various scenarios. The tropical village was built by indigenous craftsmen and provides shops, restaurants and entertainment. The tropical rainforest recreates that landscape with plants, trees and waterfalls. The tropical sea and Bali lagoon are heated fun pools with slides, waterfalls and whirlpools. It is open all year, round the clock – visitors can stay the night either by sleeping on one of the “beaches” or in one of the on-site hotels or apartments. Various entrance fees options and packages are on offer, itemised on the website. It is easy to reach by car, just by exit 6 of the A13 Berlin-Dresden motorway. here is a regular train service to Brand/Niederlausitz station, from where shuttle buses run to the resort.
