Positive Reviews

Good central location

The big advantage of this accommodation is its proximity to the centre of Calcutta and its shopping area. It is also just a short walk from the Indian Museum. There are plenty of places to eat out locally including several tea stands where guests get breakfast. Getting around is easy too with the Esplanade and Park Street metro stations nearby and plenty of taxis in the vicinity.

Budget hotel for backpackers

Guests say the hotel could represent excellent value for money for anyone seeking little more than a bed for the night, such as a single male traveller. For the same budget, they reckon one can find a lot worse.

Negative Reviews

Extremely basic amenities

Guests warn that pretty much all of the rooms come with a shared bathroom and shared WC with no air conditioning (or even fans) at all. The shared facilities are also few and far between, with only a couple of lavatories for the whole hotel and hot water only provided on demand (in the form of a bucket). The rooms appear to be separated only by plywood (and can get quite noisy). Guests say that it isn't at all suitable for families or female travellers.

Cleaning not up to scratch

The standard of hygiene of the hotel is not acceptable for many guests. They say the linen is dirty and not changed between stays and the beds are infested with bugs. The rooms are infrequently cleaned and give off a very bad odour.

Staff attitude not always appreciated

Many guests complain that the behaviour of management and staff is well below what they would expect. They find them impolite, arrogant and very uncooperative.
