Carlisle Park provides a variety of environments from its neatly landscaped lawns, beds and borders, hillside and woodlands. There are a number of paths and trails which lead through the grounds and down to the river Wansbeck. In the centre of the park is Haw Hill on top of which are the remains of the Norman Morpeth Castle. The gatehouse was restored in the 1990s. In one corner are tennis courts and bowling greens. The area nearest the main gates contains an aviary.
