Positive Reviews

Life-saving shuttle service

Guests are grateful for the complimentary shuttle service laid on by the hotel, which transports patrons up and down the steepest of hills to Bara Bazaar or Mall Road. The service can reportedly be hailed with a simple call, is swift to fetch guests, and is driven by the most affable of drivers.

First-class food

Travellers are more than pleased with the culinary offerings here. The large breakfast buffet spread is a highlight for many, setting up guests for a day exploring. The popular lunch menu includes the frequently recommended dish, Palak Chicken.

Lazy lawn days

Guests looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of contemporary life frequently fall for the old-world charm of this colonial residence. They maintain the well-manicured gardens are the perfect place to recline in a lawn chair, enjoy a traditional tea and watch the sunset over the Himalayas.

Negative Reviews

Hotel on the hill

For many guests, one of the most unwelcome issues is how difficult this hotel can be to reach, situated as it is atop an extremely steep hill. Whilst the complimentary shuttle is available during certain hours, early risers and those arriving back to the hotel of an evening are faced with an exhausting slog.

Things that go bump in the night

Though this grand hotel's colonial-style décor is undeniably impressive, its wooden floors are an occasional issue for some light sleepers, who are kept awake when others move around. Additionally, guests sleeping in top-floor rooms sometimes wake to the deafening sound of rain on the property's tin roof.

Some hospitality training required

Fluctuating service standards have sullied some guest’s experiences of this establishment. A lack of smiling faces at reception have gotten some trips off to a bad start, whilst slow responses to room requests have annoyed others.
