Positive Reviews

Music and the love of food

Breakfast and other meals are surprisingly appetising and are of good quality. The hotel caters particularly well for vegetarian preferences. Dinner enjoyment is often enhanced by a guitarist in the background. Guests are somewhat relieved to find this situation because it is quite a considerable journey to find an alternative restaurant.

Away from it all

The stay here represents an unusual opportunity for guests to escape the rigours of modern-day life and just relax. So, very few even care if the Wi-Fi is not working. This is a time to escape to another world and explore places such as Naukuchatal.

Balcony views

Rooms are spacious. Guest advice is to go for a lake-view room. These tend to come with a balcony, thus accelerating the overall enjoyment.

Negative Reviews

Fiction does not match the facts

It looks idyllic in the publicity but, on entering the building, guests' combined faces drop as they see that this is just another dreary hotel. It offers the usual problems of power cuts, unreliable Wi-Fi and no hot water. There is an unpleasant smell too, and that extends to the bed linen and towels. It is pointless phoning reception to complain because the telephone does not work.

Stuck for cash

Forward planning is recommended by guests as, in this remote area, there are no ATM machines.

The Himalayas can be boring

Unless guests are prepared to travel and explore, there is little to do in the immediate area. Guests' sympathy extends to people who are travelling alone. The hotel does what it can to entertain visiting families and groups, but single people can often and unintentionally feel excluded. High on a Himalayan hill, life can be quite boring.
