About Villa Bougainville by HappyCulture

Villa Bougainville by HappyCulture promises more than a simple hotel stay near central Nice. This colourful villa, dating from the Belle Epoque, is named after an 18th century explorer and is decorated in a bright, eclectic fashion.

The 46 bedrooms are all decorated in an equally quirky fashion in shades of turquoise and orange. Each has a retro-style private bathroom with large Italian shower. All are kept cool with air-conditioning and possess flat-screen TVs.

Villa Bougainville by HappyCulture offers free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour front desk. A coffee machine is also available to guests.

Breakfast is extra, whilst speciality coffee, chocolates and exotic fruits can be tasted in the library each afternoon.

The railway station is just 300 metres from the hotel, whilst the main sights of the old town, the Promenade des Anglais and the beach can be reached within a 20 minutes' walk.

Positive Reviews

Easy to get around

If you're travelling by train, this hotel is ideally situated just a few minutes' walk from the railway station. Guests find getting around to be equally practical. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel and the city centre and old town are just a short walk away.

Original place to stay

The eclectic decoration may not be to everyone's taste, but on the whole guests appreciate it. The hotel is certainly different to any other hotel they have ever stayed in! The rooms are decorated in a funky and quirky style, giving a warm and cosy ambiance.

Genuinely warm staff

The staff's friendly attitude seems completely sincere to guests. They are so helpful and patient with you and will make phone calls on your behalf if you have trouble with the language.

Negative Reviews

Small dimensions

Whilst the decoration gives a bit of a surreal flavour, guests are less than impressed with the compact feeling of the hotel. The breakfast room is small and the lifts are minuscule - squeezing in no more than three people at a time. However, it is the size of the bedrooms that amaze the guests the most - particularly the single rooms. They may be tinier than any room you have ever seen! The en-suite bathrooms and shower cubicles barely have any space either, with nowhere to even put your toiletries or cosmetics!!

Neighbourhood feels unsafe

Guests, especially single or female ones, feel uneasy wandering around the streets near the hotel. The area doesn't feel safe with dodgy looking people and gangs hanging around near the station.

Can get noisy

Guests are often disturbed by noise coming from other rooms, doors closing and people walking and talking in the corridors, so poor is the sound-insulation. The hotel is right on a main road too, so there is also traffic noise to contend with.
