About The Manor House Inn

The Manor House Inn Shepton Mallet, conveniently located in the heart of rural Somerset, features an indoor skittles court and 17th century pub that was originally owned by Edmund Dawe, the Lord of the Manor.

All five non-smoking rooms are named after popular locally trained winning racehorses. Each features a flat-screen TV, hairdryer and facilities for making tea/coffee. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas.

The Manor House Inn Shepton Mallet offers a guest lounge with sofas and function room with meeting/banquet facilities. Free parking is available on-site.

The restaurant serves a complimentary full English breakfast daily, as well as delicious à la carte meals, using fresh products from the local farmers. Also onsite is a beer garden and two bars serving local cask ales.

The inn is located near Royal Bath and West Show ground, in addition to Glastonbury and Wells, and Bath and Longleat.

Positive Reviews

Approachable staff

Most guests comment on how welcoming the inn keeper is. Others note that staff members are very friendly, helpful and attentive to guest needs.

Comfortable rooms

Many guests say that the rooms are spacious, yet cozy, with modern facilities and charming decor. Others appreciate the fact that private bathrooms are available.  Some note that rooms in the main house are warmer during the winter months and suggest that guests who get cold easily request one of these rooms for added comfort.

Tasty food

Most guests love the quality of the food served at dinner and breakfast and the fact that it is prepared using quality local ingredients at a reasonable price. Others mention the lively atmosphere at the restaurant and bars during the evening hours.

Negative Reviews

Weak Internet signal

Many guests mention that Wi-Fi service is weak in guest rooms and public areas. Others say that this is due to the property's rural location and that it is to be expected.

Minor room issues

Some guests comment that rooms could be cleaner, and mention that the beds are creaky and have thin and worn out mattresses.  Other note that the bathrooms sometimes smell, that rooms lack air-conditioners and some of the furniture should be replaced.

Noise from the bar

Many guests mention that the bar downstairs and bier garden in the summer can get quite noisy. Others note that the rooms outside the main inn, which are in converted stables, are quieter and recommend light sleepers pack a pair of earplugs just in case these rooms are not available upon check-in.
