About Hotel Cliffden

Converted from a stunning Georgian manor house built in 1815, Hotel Cliffden is a three star hotel perched on the cliffs above the seaside resort of Teignmouth.

Some of the large rooms here have their own private balconies with views over the English Channel. All of the rooms are equipped with a TV and DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and an alarm clock.

The hotel has a heated indoor swimming pool and meeting rooms. A safe deposit box and laundry service is also provided, and the hotel specialises in services for visually impaired guests.

The hotel restaurant and bar serves food and drinks throughout the day, with a breakfast buffet in the morning and a varied menu for lunch and dinner.

The amusements of Teignmouth’s Grand Pier are half a mile from Hotel Cliffden, and Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve is five and a half miles away.

Positive Reviews

Beautiful landscaped garden surrounding the hotel.

As the name Cliffden suggests, this hotel is perched on a cliff overlooking the seaside town of Teignmouth, and it has a wonderful garden full of flowers and greenery for you to wander around or simply relax in.

Rooms with a sea view and balcony.

A selection of the rooms here trump all others with their sundeck balcony and stunning sea views. It is well worth upgrading to one of these rooms if you can, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent car parking facilities.

If you are bringing your car to this hotel you will be pleasantly surprised by all the space provided for parking cars. There are plenty of spaces for everyone without cars being squeezed together.

Negative Reviews

Erratic opening times for the pool.

The indoor pool downstairs seems to run by irregular opening times, sometimes being closed in the mornings or being shut in the early afternoon. Check with reception to make sure you can use the pool when you want to.

No free Wi-Fi in the bedrooms.

There is free Wi-Fi in the communal areas of the hotel, but this complimentary service does not extend to all the rooms in the hotel. If you need to connect to the internet you will have to sit in the lobby or lounge.

Once a luxury hotel, now a bit run down.

Built in 1815, Cliffden was a grand house before being converted to a hotel, but unfortunately the quality of this once luxury hotel has slipped in recent years. General refurbishment would help to bring it back to its former glory.
