About Hotel Preethi Palace

Hotel Preethi Palace has a town centre location. It is two-star rated. The town itself is the gateway to hiking and sightseeing opportunities. These include a 27-mile, day-long excursion to Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary.

Typically, room choices at Hotel Preethi Palace are soundproofed and include a TV, telephone and desk. Complimentary toiletries are provided in the en-suite bathroom and rooms incorporate blackout curtains.

Concierge, room and laundry are among the optional services that are available. Parking is available.

In addition to the hotel’s vegetarian restaurant, neighbouring eateries include, only a one-minute walk, the non-vegetarian Prabhu Restaurant. It is also just a few hundred yards to Adyar Ananda Bhavan which is open from early morning.

Hiking and cycling are popular activities in this mountainous region. The town's Botanical Garden’s rare species of trees and plants are approximately one mile away and just past the Tibetan Market. A 13-mile drive is well worthwhile in order to experience breath-taking scenery provided via the steam-powered Nilgiri Mountain Railway.

Positive Reviews

A traditional hotel

This is very much a traditional Indian hotel. Guests who embrace the concept find aspects of the experience to be very positive. Staff is caring and very diligent. This adds significantly to the positive vibes.

This is a terrific location

Here, in the heart of the Charing Cross district, guests say that a major plus lies in walkable access to many restaurants and bazaars. The Rose Garden and other Ooty features are also an easy walk from the hotel.

Negative Reviews

There is room for room service improvement

Room service falls below what guests assess as being acceptable. It is very slow. Then there is the restaurant itself. This, guests feel, is also disappointing and it serves only as an encouragement to venture outside the hotel. It is, after all, an easy stroll to experience some of the alternative eateries in this part of town.

A dubious seventh-floor heaven

Once guests have admired the quite lavish exterior then reality strikes in rooms which are sadly very dated. Bed linen is stained, the telephone does not work and the concentration of local channels on the TV is of no interest to visitors from further afield. Interestingly and inconveniently, the elevator here only works from the second floor upwards; so virtually everywhere involves an initial climb. There are further hills to climb when parking the car. Parking is at a perilous seventh-floor level.

Poor facilities and maintenance

Why, guests wonder, is hot water available only during the morning. Plumbing problems are highlighted by leaking pipes and the provided towels are decidedly grimy. Cleanliness, generally, is less than impressive.
