About Rainbow Cottage

The lovely little hill station of Ooty hosts Rainbow Cottage. Set in lush green gardens, two kilometres from the well-known Ooty Lake, the property is suitable for couples, families and large groups.

All rooms include modern en-suite bathroom facilities and a flat-screen TV. Suites add a cosy fireplace, while others boast an outdoor terrace with garden views.

Complimentary amenities come in the form of Wi-Fi and on-site parking. Room service is offered 24/7, and guests can approach the front desk for travel assistance and tour bookings.

An on-site restaurant serves delicious Indian cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Alternatively, a shared kitchen is available for those who prefer preparing their own home-style meals.

Located on Elk Hill, the Government Rose Garden is the largest of its kind in India and is approximately three kilometres from Rainbow Cottage. One of the oldest churches in the Nilgiris district, St. Stephen's Church, is less than a ten-minute walk away.

Positive Reviews

Great for the budget

Those looking to tighten the purse strings find the room price very attractive here. Guests feel that, especially with large family groups, it's really very good value for money in the long run.

Convenient location

The cottages are right next to the main road, and close to the bus station as well as the train station. Guests also appreciate the beautiful St. Stephen's Church next door, and the lovely view from the terrace.

Good for sightseeing

Sightseeing tours can be arranged by the staff at the cottages. Guests are pleased that most of the tours are quite close to the property, which is great after a long day of being out and about.

Negative Reviews

Hot water supply limited

Although there is supposed to be hot water available at a prescribed time slot each evening, guests are without any hot water most of the time. Even when it is requested from the front desk, they don't get much joy.

Damp and cold

During the cold winter months, guests expect to have an in-room heater available to use. Surprisingly, this is not the case, leaving the rooms with mould in the bathrooms, and guests feeling a little chilly and disappointed.

Not much attention to detail

Almost everything is self-service at the cottages. There is no service during breakfast time, and when something is requested from the front desk, guests say they rarely get much assistance.
