Positive Reviews

Clean and elegant rooms.

Rooms at The Rose and Crown are all individually decorated to suit the listed building in traditional tones with elegant furnishings as well as interesting touches such as exposed brickwork and accent walls. Rooms are warm, spacious and immaculately clean.

Professional and accommodating staff.

The staff compliment at the hotel are well-trained in service and display a professional attitude. Front desk staff are accommodating and are happy to arrange tickets and taxis for guests while restaurant, bistro and bar staff are efficient and friendly.

Charming listed building.

The Rose and Crown occupies a listed Georgian period building, the interiors including common areas, rooms and suites tastefully display aspects of its history with exposed beams, original brickwork and an original staircase. The overall effect is charming and warm and all spaces are kept pristine and spotlessly clean.

Negative Reviews

Car park can be hard to find.

The car park can be a bit hard to find with no clear indication as to its location within the property. The car park entrance is on the river side which is away from the hotel street entrance which often seems to lead to confusion.

Some rooms can be noisy.

Some of the rooms, particularly those on lower floors facing the street, are a bit more susceptible to noise from the busy road outside which is populated with a variety of shops, traders with early morning market stall set up, deliver vehicles, foot traffic and early morning street cleaning vehicles.

Traditional décor may seem dated.

The hotel is a grade II listed building and the owners have tried to keep the décor more in line with this. The traditional décor may seem a bit dated or boring to those more used to modern hotels with modern décor and features.
