Hotel Scandic Hamburg Emporio (Hamburg, Germany)

The Scandinavian hotel operator Scandic opened a 325-room hotel on 1 September 2012 in one of the best city locations: the newly opened Emporio complex on the Gänsemarkt. As a pioneer in the areas of environmental protection and sustainability, using trend-setting design and Jamie Oliver's food and beverage concept for conference guests, the Scandic Hamburg Emporio will bring a fresh breeze to Hamburg's hotel business. As part of its corporate philosophy, the new Scandic Hamburg Emporio takes ecological, economic and social factors into account. The 325 eco-rooms, public spaces as well as meeting and conference rooms all conform to a high ecological standard. The energy demand is covered exclusively by green electricity provided by Greenpeace Energy. A minimum room size of 24 m2, 25 different room types with a ceiling height of up to 6.80 metres, bright and sunny rooms provide the highest comfort for business travellers. The “Story Hotel” embodies the topic of water in its entire design. The design and stylistic elements, created by the Swedish artist, Jesper Walderstein, allow guests to dive into a tranquil aquatic world through the use of colours and shapes.
