Farfield Mill was in production as a woollen mill for 156 years between 1836 and 1992. After refurbishment it opened as an Arts and Heritage Cenre in 2001. The Heritage Exhibition charts the rise and fall of the textiles industry in the Sedbergh area, demonstrating the process of manufacture from the raw materials to the finished cloth and notes the conditions that the workers endured. Looms are still in operation creating travel rugs to in-house desgins for sale in the museum shop. The Arts and Crafts Galleries display paintings, ceramics, pewter, jewellery and other crafts from local workers. There is also a tea room.
