Lilla Torg (Malmö, Sweden)

Lilla Torg är en av Malmös mest kända sevärdheter och många som kommer längre norrifrån i Sverige samlas gärna här då torget har en kontinental atmosfär med sina korsvirkeshus på två sidor och sommartid även sina uteserveringar där även Malmöborna själva gärnas samlas om de inte är av den typ som hellre går till Möllevångstorgets uteställen. Att torget inte heter Lilla Torget utan bara torg har naturligtvis att göra med dess danska historia eftersom Torv även fungerar i obestämd form på danska. Grunden till torget lades i slutet av 1500-talet när den ganska sanka marken fylldes ut och började användas till salustånd med olika typer av varor på olika sidor av torget som först faktiskt inte var mycket mer än en förlängning av Stortorget. Under 1700-talet fick torget så en mer permanent bebyggelse och 1902-03 byggdes till och med en saluhall mitt på det. Den fick stå till 60-talet då den revs och torget åter blev den öppna plats det en gång varit. Istället använde man en gammal industribyggnad i dess ena hörna som saluhall och den fylldes av en del butiker men främst restauranger innan den köptes upp av en hotellkedja och började byggas om till hotell med flera restauranger under 2008. Resten av torgets byggnader är idag mestadels fyllda av olika krogar och caféer och man kan komma hit både för att äta eller bara ta en drink med vänner. Här finns också början av Skomakargatan med sina butiker samt på ena sidan torget Hedmanska gården med sitt designcenter där det även ordnas konserter och andra kulturevenemang regelbundet. Själva det kullerstensbelagda torget har vintertid använts till skridskobana när utomhusserveringarna ändå inte håller öppet. Senare har skridskorna fått ge vika för en installation i form av en stor lysande lampa under de mörkaste månaderna och man kan aldrig veta vad som kommer härnäst på detta älskade torg bara ett par kvarter från Centralstationen.
