The Bungle Bungle range is the most well known feature of Purnululu National Park. The park itself has few facilities and no accomodation. It is situated approximately 109 killometers from Halls Creek and you are advised to take food and water with you. A lot of people camp there for a few days at either Walardi or Kurrajong campsites. Attractions are the geology of the Bungle Bungles (bee hive shaped sand stone structures), Aboriginal art and a diversity of wildlife. There are also many Aboriginal burial sites. In 2003 the Purnululu National Park was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The park is open between April and December, weather permitting. Scenic flights by helicopter are available from Halls Creek or from within the park. If you are driving you should note that the park access road is accessible only to four-wheel-drive vehicles.
