Das 750 gegründete Benediktinerstift wurde während des 30-jährigen Krieges zerstört. 1652 wurde die erste große, barocke Klosteranlage Deutschlands wieder aufgebaut. Heute kann man hier im Rahmen einer Führung die prunkvollen Herrschaftsräume besichtigen. In dem Gebäude befindet sich außerdem das Amts- und Landgericht Kempten.
