Bankowy Square is situated in Warsaw’s city centre. The square can be reached by crossing Teatralny Square westwards on to Senatorska Street which leads directly into the centre of the square. The western frontage is lined with Neo-Renaissance buildings designed by Corazzi like Mostowski Palace, an 18th century palace rebuilt for the Home Affairs Commission, now the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. There are many post war buildings in the square and its environs like Cinema Muranów with its huge terrace with a gate and a fountain. The dominant building on Bankowy Square is the Azure Tower on the corner of Solidarnosci. Outside the building is a monument dedicated to to Stefan Starzyński, the mayor of Warsaw during the Second World War. Across the road from the Azure building is another monument which depicts the arch representative of Polish Romanticism, Juliusz Słowacki. The centre of Bankowy Square has trams and buses running through as this is a main network point for Warsaw transport. The Metro station at Ratusz Arsenal is close by and easy to find by walking down the steps or escalator next to the Azure Tower.
