Marienkirche (Berlin, Germany)

Marienkirche is one of the oldest churches in Berlin. The church is located in close proximity to the Neptune Fountain, the TV Tower and the Red Town Hall. It can be easily accessed by the S-Bahn trains, the U-Bahn lines or by public bus transport. The church was completed in the first half of 14th century and features a typical Gothic style. The high front tower was built later on in 15th century, while in 18th century the dome was built, which blends elements of Baroque and Neo-Gothic style. During the World War II the church was damaged and underwent serious reconstruction in 1950. Since 1539, Marienkirche has been a Protestant church. Morning worship is held every Sunday at 10:30am. Evening worship services take place each Sunday during the semester at 6:30 pm. An evening organ performance and prayer takes place every Saturday from May to October at 4:30 p.m. The church is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00 (from early April to late October until 18:00). During the services, held on Saturdays at 16.30 and Sundays at 10.30 am and 18.30, tourists are not allowed.
